Specific scenarios
SMSF cost–benefit assessment
Advanced- Looking at your current super balance and asset allocation, we assess whether setting up an SMSF is worthwhile, and how it would work alongside property or share investments.
Allocating your money and managing tax within the rules
- Should spare cash go into your offset account or extra super, or towards property or funds? How can assets be spread sensibly across family members to lower marginal tax rates? How should cross-border investments be structured? And how can wealth pass smoothly to the next generation?
Retirement projections, 5–10 years out
- We quickly map out your current assets and cash flow, calculate your retirement shortfall and set a path for selling down assets or drawing income from them.
Family wealth protection review
- We review your current personal insurance and asset ownership structures, and assess whether they would protect your family and the wealth you've built over the years in the event of illness, an accident or a loss of income.

Common questions
Before you book
Why do you charge for this consultation?
When advice is offered at no charge, its cost is often recovered by selling financial products. Paying us directly means we work for you, not for a product provider.
Is an hour enough for something as complex as an SMSF?
For most single questions, yes, including whether an SMSF suits your current super balance. If several issues are interlinked and need in-depth modelling, we'll tell you in the session and explain what a full plan would cover.
Is this personal advice?
It depends on what we discuss. If the assessment calls for clear recommendations on what to do, based on your specific financial situation, that is personal advice in the legal sense, and we'll provide the documentation the law requires. If it only involves comparing options and explaining concepts, that is general information. As we talk, we'll tell you clearly which applies to what we're discussing.
Will you recommend specific investment products in the 60 minutes?
As independent planners, we keep the one-off consultation focused on strategy-level analysis and structural comparisons (such as an SMSF versus a regular super fund, or an offset account versus investing). If you need legally compliant advice on buying, selling and allocating specific products, we'll prepare a tailored Statement of Advice (SOA) for you after the session, with this $660 fee credited in full towards it.
Can we meet in person?
We prefer to meet online via Google Meet: it's quick and convenient, saves you time and lets us share your financial figures on screen in real time. If you'd rather meet face to face and you're in the Sydney area, you're welcome to contact us in advance to arrange a place to meet.
What if no suitable time is available after I pay?
We'll contact you within one business day of payment to arrange a time. If we can't offer a time that suits your needs, we promise a 100% refund, no conditions attached.
What if I need to reschedule?
Simply reply to our email or contact us directly. As long as you give reasonable notice, the fee you've paid goes straight to your new session.
